1. Which projects did you review? The Beauty Within by Morgan Zimmer
2. Why did you select the Exhibit you critiqued? I felt that it was an interesting topic and my exhibit was Natural Beauty so I wanted to see if there were similarities.
3. What challenges did you face in writing the critique article and how did you overcome them? This was the hardest project in the class. It is hard to critique someone's work. I I tried to just write. I had to take a couple breaks and then look back through the PowerPoint many times and then write and then break again.
4. How do you feel about critiquing your peers work? I hate critiquing my peers work!
5. Would you like to read the critique your peers wrote about your Art Curation Project? Yes, I would like to hear opinions about my exhibit.
6. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your finished article and why? 7 I feel like I starting rambling and repeating to try to make it longer.
7. Did you enjoy working on this project? I enjoyed parts of it. I enjoyed creating the exhibit and really enjoyed looking through the exhibits and all the unique perspectives that people used. But critiquing is not for me.

Self Portrait

1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces? I thought the way they were was more realistic which is what I wanted to create. I chose some based on the fact that they were black and white.
2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait? I enjoy pencil and charcoal that is my favorite. I love the black and white look or portraits.
3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them? I had a lot of difficulties. I felt like I redid the portrait many time. Constantly erasing and fixing. I am still not completely satisfied with my final. I also had difficulties finding portraits from the online gallery.
4. How does this piece represent you? I wanted it to be realistic. I wanted to show me, nothing sugar coated, no makeup, actually this was right after I got out of the shower.
5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work? I tried to use texture in the hair. And I used different lines and shading to show contrast. I was going to use color and decided against it.
6. Did you enjoy working on this project? I did enjoy this. As difficult as it was I really liked this project. I love to draw and enjoy a challenge.
7. What do you think of your final artwork? Like I said before I am not fully satisfied with it. I like it but felt like I could do better but I would have started over. I put a lot of time in it and did not want to start over but the erasing was starting to show.

Module 15
Greenberg on Art Criticism: An Interview by T.J. Clark
This was not a good film. The whole time they are talking over each other and I am having a hard time understanding because of it. "You don't ask anything of art, except to be good.
I love that quote. Stay receptive and open. Talk about results and they settle everything. They talk about how the best art has been abstract but he personally is not a fan. It is interesting to me that although he does not like it he still respects how well it is doing. when art is good it is everything it should be. Place limits on nothing and relevance matters. This video helps with that criticism project because he explains the importance of an open mind. He also explains how he has a distaste of abstract but how it is doing well. You still want to say whether something is good or bad but you have to be open.

Jackson Pollock: Michael Fried and T.J. Clark in Conversation.
To call someone a master is going to land you in hot water. Clark emphasized the historic attributes while Fried stressed the independence of its status. If you cant agree on the character of a painting you won't be able to agree on the significance of its effects. What does an ambitious painting now have to be? Historic can line up to quickly with the political. I am not sure if that will help with the project or not. I feel like they brought up good points but to me it seemed like they were just trying to prove their points and not criticize the painting. This video was not bad as I said earlier they brought up some interesting points. I liked the conversation over the interview format. It was more interesting to watch with the movement, and you saw the piece that they were describing.
